Essential Requirements to become a Host Teacher
- Enthusiasm for teaching and a warm caring personality
- Professional Qualification(s) in the language you teach
- A clean, comfortable and welcoming home
Our teachers love the flexibility of teaching from their own home on a freelance basis and value the extra income from homestays. Some teachers only teach during their school holidays; others may have retired from teaching and find this a great way to keep busy and earn extra income.
When you become a host teacher with ILH, you receive professional help and support but still receive all the benefits of working on a freelance basis.
We place all ages of students, from teenagers to retired adults – anyone who wants to learn a foreign language, whether it be for business or for personal pleasure. The majority of students book their homestay in the spring and summer months.
We do ask that you do not work full or part time while the students are staying with you, as part of the course is the extra-curricular interaction between teacher and student, time spent immersed in the normal family life and additional cultural activities around the area.
